Thanks in advance for your time and patience in answering my questions, and good luck. Once I see your answers, I think I'll be able to help you get closer to solving this annoying problem. I'm SURE you have better things to do with your time. I know that is a lot of questions to answer, but feel free to type SHORT answers don't feel obligated to write a detailed explanation of everything I've asked you. Have you ever used DOS? Do you know how to open a DOS window in WinXP? Have you ever used any other version of Windows besides WinXP? If the answer to that last question was YES, do you know which version of Windows that was? How much experience do you have with computers? Have you been using them for more than ten years, between five and ten years, or less than that? This type of problem could have MANY causes, so solving this could take a while, but be patient and we should be able to find a solution together.īefore we decide to go after a new mouse driver, I need to know a little information about your skill with computers, so please post your answers as soon as you can, while I think about the best way to try to resolve this. Hi Robsmom, and welcome to the TSG forums! When I graduated from high school no one ever thought computers were going to be a personal item like they are today! We did not even have portable calculators! Robsmom I asked the guys at the shop about deleteing the mouse driver and reinstalling one but theythought that was not a good idea.Ĭan anyone tell me what is wrong here? I am 68 years old, no computer training of any kind except I get books and learn from them, like XP for Dummies. I think I have tried just about everything I can think of. Today when I was on the net checking with the groups I belong to it was so slow and hung and was so miserable doing anything at all I am so frustrated by this. Neither helped and it did it as soon as I re hooked it up at home. Brought it home and did not hook up the printer for a week as suggested by the shop guys, also they suggested I unhook the keyboard and see what happened. Took it back to the shop last week and played with it for 3 hours but it worked fine, not one problem. Also do the Norton defrag, system check, delete cookies and temp files every couple of days. Loaded SpyBot, AdWare and one other spy search? These are run daily. Found Beagle, which had gotten in past Norton. I have taken this computer to the shop where first they cleaned it, dusted it, and searched it for bad bugs. Moving files also it drops them and some I can't find again. I am learning PSP8 and even there the cursor drops off the desk top and I lose what i was doing. In Bookworm it is also very bad, especially going up and to the left, I have to quit at 3 letters when I see the chance for 4 or more. This is with anything I happen to be doing but it so bad in jigsaw puzzles I have had to stop doing them. Today I have this happening with the slide on the bottom. Example, the slide at the right side always can slide down but either sticks or just won't go up. It sticks or darts off the desk top I am working on.
